Take Proper Care of Your Online Reputation

The Care and Feeding of Your Online Reputation

So you have built a strong online presence that has you climbing to the top of major search engines. Business is expanding and new leads are pouring in uncontrollably due to the work you’ve done to build your online marketing efforts.

But it doesn’t stop there….

Now, that you’ve built your online exposure to serious levels, it’s time to manage and feed it by staying on top of what is being said about your company online.

Without respect from customers and prospects you could lose everything you have built. Whether you are right or wrong, customers tend to leave in droves when negativity comes up surrounding a business.

So here is your chance to establish a plan for keeping your stellar online reputation secure.

Your website has a place for comments and suggestions which is highly recommended, but with transparency comes risk. One disgruntled customer can light a match that could potentially bring your years-long investment to ashes.

Once your company has dominated the market share and pounded the competition, the last thing you want is to teeter on the edge of defeat because of bad online publicity.

The reality of controlling your reputation online basically boils down to one thing – doing ethical business on the internet and tracking what others are saying about you.

Check your website hourly and filter all feeds into one RSS Reader for time and efficiency in monitoring. Also track your message boards and forums consistently. All of this may seem like a lot of work, but it’s not an option if you truly want to protect your online reputation.

Finally, accept the inevitable bad review but be proactive about directly addressing the concern. Leaving it unmanaged could damage your stellar reputation. Therefore, do what you have to do as a business to keep your reputation spotless and professional at all time.

Marketing with QR Codes

Marketing With QR Codes.

Have you seen those little square barcodes around lately? They have been showing up in advertisements, posters, storefronts, and even product information material. They are called QR codes and were originally used as a manufacturing and inventory tool, but recently these codes started showing up in marketing material. Although somewhat of a leap, there was good reason for it. Smart phones and mobile technology. Because a huge segment of the population now use smart phones with zealous intensity, QR codes have become somewhat of a hit in the world of APPs.

Here’s how QR codes work with a smart phone. The smart phone owner can download a QR reader, activate that APP and then simply point their (camera) phone at a QR code which could be in a newspaper, on a poster, or in a store window perhaps. The reader sees the QR code and immediately opens up a browser on the smart phone that leads to a variety of additional information. This could be in the form of a text message, a webpage, a PDF file, or even a YouTube video. The idea is that those QR codes lead the user closer to a sale, an offer, or simply more information.

A business owner can use QR codes for marketing in many ways, limited only by their own creativity. It’s easy to create a QR code online as there are many free programs to do it. You just fill out some basic information – like for example the URL you want the QR code to redirect to, and then the software creates a QR code for you. You print that QR code up on a piece of paper or you put it in a print advertisement. Now when anybody sees that QR code and scans it, they will be brought to the URL you programmed inside of it.

You can learn a lot about ways to market with QR codes in your own city by just watching where they show up and how they are being used by other businesses.

One of the places I saw a QR code was inside a newsprint advertisement with a message directing the reader to scan the code to enter a contest online.

On the front door of a small bakery business next to its closed sign. Since it was closed on Mondays, scanning the code directed passersby to a webpage that had an apology that they did not realize it would close Mondays, and offered a special if the customer returned the following day. The cool thing about that is that they probably turn somewhat inconvenienced prospects into real customers that appreciated their efforts.

I saw QR codes in every vehicle on a used car lot that had high pedestrian traffic. Some of them linked to more detailed webpages, while others linked to short sales videos on Youtube describing the car in more detail in a very visual way.

Another way to market QR codes is if you’re in the real estate business and you attach a QR code to one of your real estate signs allowing the interested buyer to get more information about the property.

These are just some of the places that I’ve noticed QR code marketing within the last few weeks, so I think there’s going to be a lot more marketing strategies coming from creative marketers in the near future.

QR codes can be an integral part of a mobile campaign.

Mobile Advertising

Mobile Advertising

In the world that we live in today, mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives, always in hand and included into our work and way of life. It is therefore no wonder that business people have opted to use mobile advertising strategy. Mobile advertising is a method of advertising through mobile phones or other devices. This type of advertising takes place in real time where your customers receive your promotional messages instantly. As opposed to other forms of advertising text messages get read and replied to within a few minutes making it highly effective. Besides being fast, mobile coupons have a 15%-40% redemption rate compared to ordinary coupons that have a 2% redemption rate. The reason why mobile advertising is growing so fast is because the strategy is an opt-in method. That means that customers are at liberty to choose to subscribe to relevant messages of their choice. Because of that, the strategy becomes less intrusive compared to other forms of advertising.

In mobile advertising, vendors text messages of advertisement to their prospective customers who have accepted to receive them from their company. As a vendor, you give your outlook a unique keyword to text to a number that is like a telephone number. Having done that, the owner of the number receives a text message requesting them to confirm if they are interested in subscribing to your messages. After they confirm, you can then send them promotion messages to their phone whenever there is something happening in your business.

Mobile advertising is the most rapidly growing marketing strategy to promote businesses, brands , services and organizations nowadays. Via mobile advertising medical practitioners can save their time and money by sending their patients an SMS reminding them about their next appointments. In comparison to traditional methods of advertising this method is cheaper, personal and immediate. This has increased customer loyalty, awareness and sales because it created a greater connection between customers and businesses. This is one of the key factors that have led to its rapid establishment.

With the current upswing of new generation of mobile phones and pda’s the computers will be replaced because people can access the web via their mobile devices. For people who want to reach a new breed of customers mobile advertising is the way to go. Albeit new, mobile advertising is a good way in which a company can build its profile or brand with a properly targeted audience. Mobile marketing is mostly used for product launches, coupons, offers and special promotions.
Besides its mobility mobile adverising is beneficial because it helps you to obtain accurate records of promotion results.

This method of marketing also helps marketers to quantify the results of their advertisements and measure its effectiveness accurately. This marketing strategy is most popular among companies selling fast moving consumer foods and those in finance and beauty industries. In opt-in mobile advertising consumers get a chance to choose what information they would like to receive, while at the same time giving vital demographic data about themselves. This motivates the consumers to be attentive and responsive to information they choose to receive.

Mobile marketing is a good marketing platform to grow your business, your customer base, and your profits. Before you start a campaign, you have to do some research and learn certain strategies. Software tools can also make things easier.

Common Mobile Marketing Mistakes

With the influx of smartphones into the market, it is more important now to create a consistent mobile market message and avoid common mistakes.

One of the most overlooked mobile marketing mistakes is not designing a website for mobile content. Mobile web viewers are more likely to leave a website with a slow loading speed than traditional computer browsers. Websites that load content quicker are more likely to maintain their audience.

Another common mistake is providing too much text in a web advertisement. As mobile users move quickly between pages, cluttered text will become lost.

–>> Keep the message short, to the point, and memorable.

Creating an unnecessary landing page to your business website instead of directing a customer to the content they were seeking is another mobile marketing mistake. Customers are likely to become frustrated and quickly leave the site altogether.

Finally, failure to use analytical devices efficiently is a problem that occurs not only now, but may be detrimental to future mobile marketing campaigns. Analytical devices can provide information that tracks where individuals are reading their messages, how they entered a site, and at what part of a website they left. This data is valuable in improving how a customer engages with a businesses website.

What Makes a Facebook Top Story on Facebook?

by Nathan Latka
Lujure CEO

Dear Facebook, how do you know what I care about most? O yes, of course. You own all my data. You know that I am a mommas boy. You could probably predict what I am doing right now and what I want to read about.

Enter Top Stories….

From Facebook:

We determine whether something is a top story based on lots of factors, including your relationship to the person who posted the story, how many comments and likes it got, what type of story it is, etc. For example, a friend’s status update that might not normally be a top story may become a top story after many other friends comment on it.

If you’ve been away for awhile, you’ll see the top stories that happened since your last visit at the top of News Feed.

If you see something that isn’t interesting in top stories, hover over the right side of the update in question, click the arrow and click ‘Unmark as top story’ from the menu.

You’ll know Facebook has marked a story as “Top Story” if it has a blue mark on it. If you click that blue mark, Facebook will recognize that you don’t find that story is important. This will alter the metrics Facebook uses to show you relevant stories. By doing this, you’re making Facebook smarter and more customized to you!

Give a Top Story the old boot like this:

Social Media Opps

Let’s spin that around. If you see something in Recent Stories that you’d like to make a top story, you can do so by clicking the blue corner!

There is clearly something Facebook will build on here as there is currently no way to view what you’ve marked as top stories. It looks like Facebook just learns from what you mark as top stories for future reference. It’s almost like you’re saying “Show me more content like this from this person”.

Useless feature or life changing? You decide in the comments below. And dammit, mark our updates as Top Stories!
